BAKER & LANDER

In 1972, Baker & Lander was founded as an independent life insurance organization. Working with Fortune 500 companies, Baker & Lander proposed an innovative concept of supplementing existing qualified pensions with non-qualified supplemental executive benefits and compensation solutions. These solutions were structured to both increase compensation to executives while simultaneously reducing corporate liabilities.

To fund these new supplemental plans, Baker & Lander designed TANDEM - a unique application of Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI) which both mitigated corporate liabilities and P&L impact as well as increased executive payment and benefit security.

Over the following decades, non-qualified plans funded by COLI became recognized as the accepted solution by virtually all Fortune 500 companies.
